Unpack Edu is a platform of online tools that literally ‘unpacks’ some of the education access barriers some students face. These barriers include cognitive overload & available working memory, focus & attention, executive functioning, and the sense of overwhelm that comes when a student is stuck in these. The platform uses AI that is carefully informed by evidence-based research and best-practice recommendations from education and psychology to review and suggest adjustments that include scaffolded supports. Each tool gives the user the ability to accept or reject suggestions at multiple touchpoints — so professional judgement and each student’s own experience are respected.
Unpack Edu does not diagnose, or provide medical, therapy or educational advice. Instructions and advice from education, medical and therapy professionals always override anything Unpack Edu provides. It does not provide answers — it only provides adjustments that support students to do the work themselves. It does not change the content, the marks, or how hard the task is. It keeps the learning challenge the same; it does not lower the standard.
Unpack Edu is for any student who can benefit from extra scaffolds and support to access their learning and show what they know. That often includes neurodivergent students, students with additional learning needs, students with wellbeing support needs, and students learning in English as an additional language — but the tools can be useful to almost anyone. Students pick which tools help, and adjust within each to suit themselves.
Created by a parent supporting their own children with mainstream schoolwork — in person, through distance education, and home-schooling. Parents and carers can feel better equipped to support their child without having to become experts in building the step-by-step supports themselves.
Helps teachers provide individualised adjustments in a time-efficient way, without losing oversight of what — and how much — support to build in. Documents it creates are marked ‘adjusted’ and date/time-stamped, and could be used as IEP / ISP / NCCD evidence if appropriate.

None of it tests your learning — it’s all about the tools. Just two things:
Each sample shows you, with a small coloured badge, which kinds of support it’s giving — so you can match what you said is hard to what the tool just did.
The try-out runs on a laptop or desktop computer — not a phone or tablet. Ideally each person uses their own computer. If you share one — for example a parent and child both doing their try-out questions on the same computer — tap the “↺ Switch person” button (bottom-left of any tool page) when it’s the next person’s turn. It clears the first person’s details and goes back to the start, so the next person can put in their own. Your text size and colour settings stay.
Every writing sample asks for 60 words or fewer, so each one takes minutes, not hours: an everyday worksheet (writing instructions for making a bed), a short school assignment (one paragraph on Romeo & Juliet, which then flows into a step-by-step plan), and a practice dashboard (change your hours for the week and tick things off). Plus one quick question in Ask for what I need, which suggests what to say to a teacher.
You’re very welcome to use Unpack Edu on your own real school tasks and assignments during the try-out, if you and your parent or carer would like — we appreciate all the feedback so far. It’s entirely up to you, and there is nothing extra to sign. Unpack Edu doesn’t see, review, or mark any work. Use it on the same computer so it stays part of your try-out.
When you’ve tried the samples, that’s it — thank you. We may move on to trying out Unpack Edu with real school tasks later — so we may be back in touch to ask if you’d like to take part in that too.
You can stop and start along the way — you might work for a while and come back later. To come back, go to unpackedu.com/tryout on the same computer and click “↺ Resume the try-out”; your place is kept under your code.

We will ask for your name and email, and from there generate a unique code. Only the code is linked to the try-out information from you — such as the buttons you click and the answers you give. In this way, your feedback is not linked to your personal details. You can stop and have everything deleted at any time. This applies to everyone taking part — students, parents and carers, and teachers.
You’re given a unique code when you join. Every answer is stored against that code, not your name. The list connecting a code to a contact detail is kept separately, only so we can contact you about the try-out, and is not joined to your answers.
Only the Unpack Edu team. We do not share individual feedback with your school or anyone else.

You can give permission for your child without taking part yourself — just leave the box above unticked. Your name and email are still needed below, as the consenting adult who signs.
Setting up a child under 18? Add them here. As their parent or guardian you give permission and sign for them. Your child gets their own code, shown to you (and in your downloadable copy) — we never contact your child directly. You’re responsible for giving them the code and for everything about their taking part.
